The negative impact of the global coronavirus pandemic has not spared the economy of Uzbekistan either. In order to ensure the safety of public health in 2020, it was necessary to introduce a number of restrictions based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the situation in the country. This led to a decrease in the income of enterprises in some sectors and to some economic losses.

On 29 December 2020, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan. In his Address, the Head of the state-defined further goals and set the most important tasks aimed at ensuring a consistent increase in the level of welfare and wellbeing of the country's population.
